You can avoid carrying your bags with you all around Venice by staying in a hotel located  10 minutes by boat from Saint Mark's Square (the Venetian historical centre) .

Remember: if your hotel is not directly reachable by car  (and few are) you will have to park your car approximately 2 km away from Venice, paying approx. 40/50000 lit per day, then carry your bags with you, then catch a public boat, then walk again to the hotel, which most of the time will be located far from the boat station.
